Course Description:

Environmental professionals require a comprehensive understanding of aquifer properties to develop and comprehend the conceptual site model (CSM) and contaminant behavior of a site.

Aquifer parameterization and estimation of hydraulic conductivity (K) is an important step for characterizing sites with groundwater impacts and a prerequisite for understanding the fate and transport of contaminants in groundwater. These data are generally used by LSRPs to calculate contaminant plume extents in support of a Classification Exception Area (CEA) and/or Remedial Action Permit for Groundwater (GW-RAP). As such, it is important for environmental professionals to know how to calculate hydraulic conductivity so that critical site-specific hydrologic data needs can be identified and fulfilled.

The presentation is designed to provide:

  • A basic introduction to evaluating a site’s CSM to identify the most appropriate data collection/evaluation methodology
  • An overview of the most common techniques for aquifer parameterization and estimation of hydraulic conductivity
  • Key field data needs
  • Useful tools/resources to assist LSRPs and environmental practitioners evaluate aquifer data
  • Case study examples

Join us to enhance your skills and knowledge, ensuring you are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of aquifer properties and their vital role in environmental assessments.
