“It’s important to give back.” That’s the philosophy of George “Bud” Ivey, the founder and CEO of Ivey International, Inc.
Bud was working as an environmental consultant in the late 1980s when he noted the inadequacy of remediation products available at that time. He worked with various universities to create products that would make contaminants physically, chemically and biologically more receptive to remediation in the subsurface. Ivey now has over 30 international patents and trademarks. “Word of mouth is our best marketing tool,” says Bud. Ivey relies on its clients, which include contractors, consultants, and industrial firms, to serve as its marketing department. Bud stays in front of its clients through an on-line forum called Focused Remediation Seminars (FRS), which offers free seminars on remediation products and methods to the public. Ivey is one of FRS’s eight regular presenters (FRS also provides a forum for guest speakers). “The seminars are free, but we charge one dollar for every question asked and every review form submitted,” says Ivey. That may not seem a lot, but with upwards of dozens or more seminars per year and as many as several hundred attendees per seminar, FRS regularly raises $5,000-$10,000 per year. Bud, among others, donates his proceeds to three or four environmental organizations that offer scholarships and education. “I became aware of the LSRPA through my New Jersey clients,” says Ivey. When he learned of the work of the LSRPA Foundation, he saw a natural fit with his worldview. For the last three years, Ivey International has been a major donor to the Foundation. “I believe in helping the next generation of environmental specialists.” To learn more about Ivey International, go to their web site: https://iveyinternational.com/.
